SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THIS SALVATION PRAYER

Today, Stella is standing at the church altar to give her life to Christ. She has just repeated the salvation prayer. The pastor had preached about divine visitation and she understood that she needs to be part of God's family to experience God's visitation to His children, she needs to give her life to Christ before she can experience it in all areas of her life, especially in her finances and health. She needs God's intervention badly.
As she anxiously fills the new converts' card, she remembers how many times she has said the “salvation prayer” before. She once said it during a Scripture Union meeting in her secondary school, the other time was in a bus, then also when some evangelists came to her house, even in a crusade at the village and many other times. The prayer she has repeated today is just the same as the ones in the past but after those prayers; she has always found herself going back to the same pit of sin. She had always expected that after the prayers, she would feel strong enough to resist the temptation to sin, especially to overcome the boyfriend waiting at home and the men who throng her in the bar where she works. She thinks to herself “This salvation prayer is supposed to be like a complete dose of drugs that will wipe out all my sins and drive away these sinful situations around me, but it doesn't seem so. Ah! Something is wrong with this salvation prayer O!”

Dear, this situation Stella sees herself maybe the situation you are right now or you may even be in a worst situation. You need to know that this situation is not new. Even Peter who was with Jesus in flesh and saw all the miracles with his own eyes; found himself under pressure, so much, that he denied Christ three times (Matt 26: 69 - 74) but when he realized himself, he repented and the words that Jesus told him before His death and after resurrection strengthen him. The bible says that Peter and the disciples built their spirit up by fellowshipping together with the word and prayers (Acts 1:14) and when they became full with the Holy Spirit in Acts 2:4, they became very bold and uniquely powerful, representing Christ everywhere they went. The one-time fearful men were so great that the people looked at them and said, “These men are Christ-like (Christians)”. Their exploits were so enormous that a whole book of the bible was dedicated to them called: Acts of the Apostles.

YOU TOO CAN CONQUER YOUR WORLD IF YOU FOLLOW THE SAME STEPS THEY FOLLOWED.
1. They Remember The Words Of Jesus: The Bible
Study the word of God everyday. Start your day with the study of the word God or before you go to bed study the word. As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby (1 Peter 2:2). God's word is the food for your spirit. Feed your spirit with the bread of life. The blessings of God are in His word. Read and claim all the blessings. Read on how men served God and follow suit. God's word is a lamp to your feet. It will lighten your path. It will guide your heart. It's what you read of God's word that you use in prayers.

2. Prayers.
As a new baby in the Lord, you need to be close to your father. Make out quiet time to talk to God. Immediately you close your eyes and call Him in Jesus name, He is already there. (Ps 50:15) Don't be in a hurry to leave His presence. Relax your mind, acknowledge that He is there. God is a person. He knows you're His child; He is patient, watching you with a smile on His face. Talk to Him, express yourself, He doesn't listen to know if your grammar is correct or not, He listens to the consecration of your heart. So speak any language that you're comfortable with. He knows you (Jer. 1:5). Start by appreciating Him, thank Him for all He has done for you; then confess any sin you may have committed, after that, lay your supplications before Him, express yourself very well. Most importantly, don't be in a hurry.

3. Fellowship
“Iron sharpenth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend (Prov 27:7).  Fellowshipping is a great means of strengthening your faith in the Lord. “They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread (the word) and to prayer (Acts 2:42)”. Endeavor to attend Sunday Service and midweek services with a bible believing, word teaching and Holy Ghost filled Church. Get committed. There is a special gift in everybody, God didn't create anybody empty. You will discover your gifts when you get involve in a service unit.

… nothing is wrong with the “Salvation Prayer” it is a great seed sown in you. Water it and make it grow. Welcome to the family
God bless you.
