FINANCIAL VOWS TRAPS

FINANCIAL VOWS TRAPS

The secret of people’s success are in their stories. As a Christian and Physicist, I discovered an equation in every testimony; your part plus (+) God’s instruction, times (x) Grace = Testimonies. This equation works all the time, like maths. If you do what others did, you will get what others got.
My first attendance to Winners’ Chapel’s Shiloh was in 2009. It was life transforming, testimonies were everywhere. There were a lot of testimonies based on Shiloh Sacrifices (vows). People sacrificed their stuffs and God surprised them, some gave their cars, houses, entire savings, salaries, etc. Some testimonies were too big for my small mind to comprehend.  What! Outrageous! Someone gave God his jeep and took his family home in a taxi and God gave him contracts that lead to cars, someone quitted his personal house, gave it to the church and now owns an estate. What! Many crazy things.

So on the last day of Shiloh, I made my own vow, I wanted crazy results too. Who no like business? So I vowed a big amount I would pay, I think it was 200k. As a student with no job, I hoped God will make a way for me. It was good business, 200k for probably 2M. Ibo man sense. Lolzzz.  Guess what? By the next Shiloh all I paid was about 7k. Lolzz.  It’s not that God didn’t provide for me throughout that year O!. It’s just that. . . . “You know na”. . Lolzzz. . Anyway there was no miraculous 200k seed and no 2M for me. The next year Shiloh, I reduced the next vow to 100k, I was almost done with Uniport. I will hustle the thing. “Na so we dey hear” Nothing nothing. I can’t even remember if I paid anything. The next year Shiloh, I reduced it to 50k, I was sure because I was waiting for NYSC and someone had promised me a small job by January. Again, I didn’t get the job and I didn’t pay kobo, I felt that God was not keeping to his promise by providing the mega seed, so it’s His fault. “shikina”.

The next year Shiloh, I didn’t bother traveling to Cannan Land, Lagos, I stayed in PHC and viewed from a center. I was in the church rest room when someone gave a testimony that she dropped her phone as her sacrifice and got her miracle. I still didn’t understand. When I got to my seat, another person testified that she dropped her shoe as sacrifice, while the testimonies were going on, someone close to me mentioned that He gave God his flat screen TV. I still didn’t get it until the truth hit me. Yeah! The entrance of the word brought light to me. I was suffering for lack of knowledge. I got the secret. Give what you have, something you love and value. That’s the sacrifice. That year, I took my dearly beloved laptop and dropped, it was my companion, my cinema, my music box, my office and everything a laptop could be. It was also the most expensive item I had at the time. I copied out my files, wrapped it in a big evelop and dropped it. I cried when I got home, some friends were mad at me but it was my sacrifice. Today, a laptop is no more the most expensive item I have. I now have a better laptop that I rarely use, I am also better of than I used to be.
Listen bro, God doesn’t expect you to give what you don’t have. A seed is what you have not what you are expecting. God will not bless you for what you want to do but for what you have done already. Don’t make ambiguous vows,; that’s greed. The size of your vow won’t impress God. It’s your intention. The sacrifice is the pain denial you felt when you gave not the amount.  You may choose to give some months’ salary but make sure you have a job first but I advise that you give from your savings. Check out all the miracles in the bible. The widow and Elijah with the oil: Elijah ask her “What do you have in thine house? Jesus feeding more than 5000 people with five loaves of bread and two fish, He asked his disciples; What do we have?

Show me a miracle and I will show you the seed sown.  A woman testified that she danced round the church building with three of her unmarried daughters and had them all married in one year. A man testified of cleaning church toilet during a one week conference and got his breakthrough job. Someone went to clean His pastor’s house and got his blessing. Its not the size of your vow but the intent and submission in your heart by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. The idea may not make sense but it makes God. At the wedding miracle of turning water to wine, Mary told the servants, “Whatever Jesus tells you, do it.” It’s the obedience that brought the miracle. It didn’t make sense at all to take a wine bottle refilled with water and served to the high table guest first. I’m not sure I would have had the guts to try it, maybe I would start with those at the back seat, in case ‘wahala’ burst it won’t be too bad, no much apology, but high table guests? Bros J’ E no make sense, use your own hand serve them.

Please try and understand this and let it stick to your heart and head: If God gives you an instruction, go ahead and do it. It is not your name that is at stake. Just do it. Let God defend himself. Most miracles happens when our own ideas have finished. God won’t share His glory with anyone. Some people have stopped coming to church because they made a vow they haven’t fulfilled and so they don’t feel comfortable coming to church. Who told you that God needs your money? He needs your submission.

Think, what can I do to get a breakthrough? A submissive idea, an action full of faith and humility, what do I give that will cost me something? What character or passion can I give up and start using that time to sing to God? What kind of prayers do I need to start praying? Do I need to forget about myself and start praying for people? Do I sacrifice some of the time I spend online and use it to sing or pray or something? Anything that will bring people to God, something you haven’t done before.
A physics law states that every action has an opposite and quantifiable reaction. A body is at rest until a force is applied to it in the required direction. There could be friction, yeah, things that will inconvenience but keep pushing. Change starts when the pain of remaining the same is more that the pain required to effect the change.

Push! Take the risk.
See you at the top
